Can Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion predict the outcome of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023?

For the FIFA Men’s World Cup 2022 in Qatar last year, Denominator made a DEI prediction of which nation that would win the World Cup. Based on Denominator’s DenominatorCountry and the countries’ performance on DEI, this prediction showed that the Netherlands would turn out to be the winning nation. However, the Netherlands made it to the quarterfinals but lost to Argentina.

Today, the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 starts and naturally, Denominator also made a prediction for which nation that will be winning. The cup is held in Australia and New Zealand from 20 July to 20 August 2023, and this will be the first time that 32 nations are competing in the Women’s World Cup.

Based on the countries’ performance on DEI and by looking at the matches one by one, Denominator’s data predicts that Sweden and England will make it to the final – with Sweden as the winning nation.

We are excited to follow the Women’s World Cup 2023, and in one month, we will know the result and if DEI predicted the outcome…

Denominator’s DenominatorCountry measures countries’ performance on multiple sub-dimensions of DEI such as Gender, LGBTQ, Race/Ethnicity, Disability, etc. To learn more about Denominator’s DEI scores and ratings, please contact info@denominator.one
