2021 is coming to an end. It was a year with an increased focus on Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion. We see a growing demand for DEI in multiple different areas, industries, and especially among the new generations of talent and consumers.
A lot of significant DEI related events took place in 2021, and highlighting a few: Using benchmarking data on SP500 provided by Denominator, University of Illinois published a report on Board Diversity, Inclusion, and Representation, Nasdaq and Singapore Exchanges announced requirements of board diversity for companies listed on the exchange, USA launched a national strategy on gender equity and equality, Germany’s first gender balanced government, and the first male NFL player and professional footballer came out as gay.
Our mission is to ensure fact-based transparency to DEI across organizations, industries, and countries. We do this by having the largest database and most sophisticated scoring mechanisms available to provide a common denominator for DEI and in 2021 our global coverage exceeded 1.5 million companies with a DEI Rating.
We made many new partnerships this year, such as Global Compact, Generation Equality Forum, and Women’s Entrepreneurship Accelerator but would like to highlight three of our partners. First, The Female Quotient. Together we launched the FQ Equity Index that evaluates companies and industries’ DEI performance. We also joined FQ’s Equality Lounge® at COP26 where our CEO, Anders Rodenberg, opened the day with insightful data on DEI performance and shared DEI insights at various sessions during the event. Second, World Humanitarian Forum. We developed the WEF DEI Index that both takes a country’s DEI score and the companies DEI performance per country into account, and third, Sustania for whom we created the Sustainia Lifestyle Index.
Within our first six months on LinkedIn, we reached 500+ followers – without any paid promotions. We improved inclusion and accessibility to our website by adding a black/white-function and an automatic 400% zooming for people with impaired vision. We also refer our visitors to Be My Eyes, a company that connects blind and low-vision people with sighted volunteers and company representatives for visual assistance through a live video call. You can find these features at the top to the right next to languages that allow translation of our website.
In 2022, we will continue to deliver fact-based DEI transparency to facilitate DEI improvements, better risk management, and increased growth across organizations and countries. Even though we are just getting started, we already have many interesting projects in the pipeline of 2022 and we look forward to sharing them all with you.
Stay safe and have a happy new year!
